Day 134 – Wind River Range

Another cold morning, Frost was on the ground and small ponds were frozen. I moved quickly early to stay warm but the day warmed up quickly my pace slowed and I was soon looking for promising lakes to toe a line and a fly to my trekking pole to try fishing. The technique has worked surprisingly often. But today I had no luck despite trying three different lakes. The landscape was beautiful! Giant peaks cradled the glassy lakes, wildlife roamed all around and there weren’t even any bugs! September is the perfect time to hike, unfortunately as it changed to October I need to be much further south. One more day in the wind river range before it’s on to the monotony of the Great Divide basin. Which basically is a desert.
