Day 135 – Return to the Desert

It was the last day in the wind river range. My food supply was low, so I had to ration it a bit. This meant slowly eating a package of instant mashed potatoes all afternoon as my snack. Late in the day I truly left the mountains for the waterless basin. Cows slowly returned and the hunters I talked to were now hunting antelope instead of deer or elk. The hills were much gentler and the trees were gone. This did lead to an amazing sunset over the flat planes. I am once again back in the territory I could imagine cowboys riding across. My Achilles is a bit bothersome once again, but it seems Achilles tendinitis in my right leg is a part of every long adventure.
