Day 144 – Roads

I left steamboat in the early afternoon and the roads began. Nothing too exciting, other than the continual putting on and taking off my rain gear. It was a set up day, one to enter back into the mountains of Colorado. Tomorrow I will get well above 12,000’ and as I progress through the state I will occasionally get up to 14k’. The days are so much shorter than a month ago and there is a chill in the air. I am just happy to have made it to Colorado in September. Upon starting this hike so many months ago, I had no idea how long it would take to get to the highest state. Now time to beat the snow through it.
