I was hiking before 5am, but that didn’t seem to matter. At the highway before 8am but that also didn’t seem to matter. It took until 10am for any car to even acknowledge my presence and then finally give me a ride 14 Miles into Bonners Ferry. Truckers blew exhaust and some people even saluted with a middle finger, but luckily I made it. I resupplied in Safeway and walked back towards the highway to get out of town. Once again nothing worked, as the construction crew stopped traffic to let me pass. So I went to the bar and had a beer. One thing led to another and I had an offer to stay in Sandpoint, Idaho and I took the offer. It was a good half day off, and the chance to experience something different.
